Last January I had the opportunity to visit Yogyakarta and Surabaya. Which means I had complete my Java conquest made simple by visited West Java, Middle Java and East Java.
Since this is a family trip and it is not easy to gather all the members together, so I decided to visit 2 places at one go. After a few days researching, I made a call to fly to Yogyakarta from KL and travel from there to Surabaya and came to my knowledge that train is one of the modes. And I was like - why not?
This is the reason why I wanted to come to Jogja in the 1st place.. The Borobudur Candi
No rezeki to get a nice shot of sunrise. It was really cloudy and few minutes later.. Rain poured. I was sad... Maybe I was not supposed too excited to be at the temple..
But we had a nice sunset view at Pantai Parangtritis the day earlier. The beach is so beautiful and the locals belief don't wear green when swimming. It distracts the sea guardian - Ratu Kidul
Bakso chicken. Mom wanted beef but the owner said beef is expensive. Touched!
We stayed for a nite in Borobudur for the sunrise view.. The Princess Manohara Hotel. The only entrance for sunrise visit is through this hotel. Very lovely hotel. Clean, spacious and wish to spend more time there.
Passed by Salak (snake skin fruit) Plantation along the way to Kaliemdem to view Mount Merapi. Me and sis saw Mount Merapi on the flight when we were on board. It was so huge and creepy when it was the only huge ass mountain overlooking the whole Jogja land.
The area nearby Mount Merapi.
Museum - not really museum but this is a house affected by the hot cloud. Inside there were a lot of things melted and we can see this ourselves. Seriously sad. Sis asked if I still wanna stay in Hawaii.. I said, I don't mind.
In Kaliedem, there were a lot of Jeep with a travel package for nearby Merapi sightseeing. We finally took the basic package. For 1 - 1.5 hour tour. What a surprise adventure with 4WD.
The ruined village, all affected by the hot cloud. This was taken on a bumpy ride on the Jeep
This landscape caused by the lava. Also taken from the Jeep ride.
The mouth between two hills was where the lava flow.
Ahh my ant-fatigue boots.. But very slippery on the wet flat tiles n moss. Hate!
Sambal terasi, sambal Tomat n sambal oelek. Had lunch at nearby resto. Very beautiful and food is yummy yummy.
Resto hut. Below was the koi pond.
Crispy little baits. Very appetizing.
This is where our lodging in Jogja town. Small street we called Lorong. This is Lorong Sosro-wijaya. The tourist village they call it. Pretty cafe n resto also, other budget hotel and losmen. I simply wanted to be in this Lorong. So, checked!
This picture taken from my ipad n shared on IG. Which is the only photo of the hotel. Budget hotel but quite expensive from the normal budget. It's ok, it's really clean! Bathroom is so beautifully tiled n clean! Oh the hotel is 1001 Malam Hotel.
While walking to Malioboro street, the sunset was splendid. The hotel was really near to Malioboro.
Ok will continue to Part 2
Xoxo,
Amy
